Person found dead at site of Georgina house fire, York Regional Police say

York Regional Police officers say a person has been found dead at the site of a house fire in Georgina on Friday.

According to a statement issued by the police service Friday evening, firefighters, paramedics and officers were called to a home on Highway 48 east of High Street just after 3 p.m.

The statement said emergency crews found the home engulfed in flames and after they went inside the person was found dead.

Ontario’s Office of the Fire Marshal was called in as part of the investigation into the cause of the fire, where it started and the circumstances surrounding it.

Meanwhile, anyone who might have information about the blaze was asked to call York Regional Police’s 3 District criminal investigations bureau at 1-866-876-5423 ext. 7341 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
